OrganiBOR Boron Fertiliser
OrganiBOR is a controlled release boron fertiliser suitable for use by home gardeners, commercial growers and farmers alike. Because of its controlled release it can be safely used in almost any growing situation where a dry granular type product can be applied without the risk of plant damage or toxicity.
What Makes Organibor different?
Boron is one of the 114 elements that make up the Earth and every member of the plant world relies on it to grow. Boron plays an essential role in a plants reproductive cycle, controlling flowering, pollen production, and seed development. Boron is also essential for healthy animal and human growth. Boron is required for the maintenance of bone and normal blood levels of oestrogen and testosterone. Boron deficiency in humans has been linked to arthritis, osteoporosis, and depleted brain functions.
Most boron fertilisers that are sold on the New Zealand market are based on sodium borate (ulexite, borax pentahydrate, boric acid or DiSodium Octoborate Tetrahydrate) many of which come in the form of a liquid foliar spray. There are two problems here, one is that the boron not immediately taken up by the plant leaches away almost as quickly as water because the sodium borate is of course totally water soluble. However secondly but far more critically, the boron in solution is completely available to the plant all at the same time. So if too much boron is applied then the plants get boron toxicity. Ironically 6 weeks later the plant will more than likely be boron deficient once again. For this reason it is not uncommon for professional growers to apply boron up to 4 times a year. It is definitely a case of little and often with these treatments. And for this reason most home or part time gardeners never get the opportunity to use boron on their gardens, simply because they do not have the expensive constant foliage and soil testing procedures in place that allow them to accurately use most boron fertilisers currently on the market.
OrganiBOR on the other hand is a naturally occurring rock found only in the Santa Rosa de Los Pastos Grandes valley in Argentina and is made up of an extremely rare mixture of magnesium and calcium borate. The release characteristics of this combination of magnesium/calcium borate means that the product releases boron at very close to the same rate to which most plants need to take boron out of the soil. OrganiBOR can be applied at a high enough rate that it will last for anywhere between 3 and 10 years in the soil but without the risk of causing toxicity to the plants when it is applied.
OrganiBOR is Bio-Gro certified no. 5063. Please contact us for a copy of the latest Bio-Gro certificate for OrganiBOR Boron Fertiliser.
OrganiBOR can be applied at any time of the year, but late winter or very early spring can be considered the best time for application.
|Vegetable and flower gardens||Apply OrganiBOR at the rate of 10 grams per square meter every 3 years for annual gardens like vegetable gardens where the plants are removed every year.|
|Apply OrganiBOR at the rate of 10 grams per square meter every 5 years for established gardens were the plants are not removed on an annual basis.|
|Fruit Trees||Apples, apricot, berrys, citrus, passionfruit, peach, pear, plum, and grapes - apply at the rate of 10 grams per square meter every 4 years|

|Pasture||OrganiBOR can be applied to pasture to promote clover growth and also to help ensure that your animals are receiving enough boron in their diet, in this case we recommend applying at a rate of about 30kg per H/A. If you are doing a large area it can be done by hand but is usually alot easier to use some kind of mechanical spreader.|
OrganiBOR is available in 1 kg pails, 3 kg, 25 kg and 1 tonne bulk bags.
